L.A. Creamery is currently donating a portion of the proceeds from the sales of Minty Chocolate Munchies to Agapé Hospice and Palliative Care in Torrance.

Agapé Hospice and Palliative Care provides compassionate care with dignity and respect for those with life-limiting illnesses, as well as support for their loved ones, throughout Los Angeles and Orange Counties.  Agapé Hospice and Palliative Care focuses on providing an environment that supports the whole person – mind, heart and body, and works to maintain each patient in their most familiar, comfortable and least-restrictive environment. Located in Leimert Park, The RightWay Foundation works toward their mission of building a prosperous future with the right foundation one foster youth at a time, by helping current and emancipated foster youth achieve financial independence and make a safe, supported transition into adulthood.  Their revolutionary Operation Emancipation program combines mental health services, job readiness and financial literacy training, and is designed to promote self-sufficiency during the transition out of the foster care system.  Services offered include one-on-one therapy, assistance with housing, customized career and academic counseling, assistance with financial aid for education, and job placement, all facilitated through qualified and inspirational leaders.  In addition to their focus on individuals, The RightWay Foundation also provides specialized training for employers of foster youth to educate them on the challenges a ‘typical’ transitioning foster youth is facing and how an employer can best support them, which in turn helps those employers achieve a lower turnover rate and provide a welcoming environment for the foster youth that they employ.  To learn more about the good things that The RightWay Foundation is doing for the youth of Leimert Park and surrounding communities, check out: http://www.therightwayfoundation.org/

LeadersUp aims to “widen the circle of opportunity” by connecting a multicultural talent pool of young job seekers between the ages of 18 and 24 with employers in need of diverse and qualified talent to fill critical entry to mid-skill level roles.  Young job seekers are given skills training that emphasizes qualities including perseverance, work ethic, effective communication and teamwork, and are then connected with a network of local companies invested in their ongoing development.  LeadersUp offers a range of programs to address disparities in employment opportunities, including the Fair Chance Coalition, encouraging businesses to consider acquiring talented employees with criminal records by combating inherent biases, offering tools and resources to better understand justice-involved young adults, and providing access to a pipeline of ready-to-work talent.  L.A. Located at the end of the Manhattan Beach Pier, the Roundhouse Aquarium serves as the educational facility for the Oceanographic Teaching Stations. The aquarium is free to the public and houses viewing and touch tanks, each displaying a brilliant selection of marine fish and invertebrates to foster and promote the public study of, and interest in, the oceans, tidelands and beaches of Southern California.  Roundhouse provides a learning environment for school field trips, travels to local schools to inform students about all aspects of marine life, and guides tide pool exploration excursions where students get the chance to observe and learn about marine organisms in their natural habitats.  Roundhouse Aquarium teaches participants the importance of being good ocean stewards and the joys and responsibilities of human and ocean interactions.  By imparting knowledge about animal anatomy and behavior, animal interaction, beach exploration and pollution awareness, the Roundhouse Aquarium is helping to keep Manhattan Beach a happy home to its citizens and its marine life.  L.A. Phoenix House offers a variety of services to assist patients in overcoming addiction, including group sessions which address recovery dynamics, relapse prevention, life skills, trauma and anger management, as well as individualized counseling with the goal of reuniting families and helping participants achieve economic independence through job training and placement services.  Phoenix House is committed to treating the whole person and their families with caring, qualified professionals in the fields of psychiatry, medicine, mental health, social work, education, and recovery support and serves clients needing mental health services regardless of their substance use experience or status.  L.A. Operating in Burbank since 1963, BCR ”A Place to Grow” serves individuals with autism, cerebral palsy, down syndrome, epilepsy, brain disorders, cognitive disorders and other disabilities.  BCR provides day activities, extended day programs and monthly dances for its participants. BCR ”A Place to Grow” strives to provide skill-building and training services which will enable their program participants to become increasingly self-reliant, well-integrated and contributing members of their families and communities. BCR achieves this goal through focusing on social skills, mobility training, community resources, and cooking.  BCR ”A Place to Grow” provides the only program in Burbank serving both children and adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Located in Chinatown, Chinatown Service Center (CSC) is an established community-based Chinese-American health and human service organization, having provided services to the community for over 48 years. CSC emerged from the realization that Chinese immigrants who did not speak English often remained isolated, with no resources to meet their health and welfare needs. To this end, CSC has developed a range of services, including social services, health services, and economic development services in a number of Chinese dialects and other languages, as well as youth services including academic mentoring and pre-employment workshops. CSC provides its comprehensive services through over 80,000 visits on an annual basis and aims to better the lives of Chinese immigrants in our community and throughout the United States. CSC has expanded its services to encompass not only the needs of recent immigrants, but all those who could benefit from the organization’s resources.  L.A. Located in Boyle Heights, Girls Today Women Tomorrow (GTWT) was first founded in 1996 to address the lack of gender-specific programming for females in East Los Angeles, where high school dropout and teenage pregnancy rates were unacceptably high. Today, GTWT has expanded to serve more than 200 local girls each year with staff outreach to over 1,500 young ladies through school presentations, resource fairs and small-group workshops. GTWT builds programs designed to prepare inner-city girls for achievement and leadership and provides a space for youth, community members and families to develop the skills they need to build a strong community. The programs developed to build these skills operate on a foundation of four pillars: (1) Education, (2) Leadership and Mentoring, (3) Service and (4) Wellness. Through implementation of their four pillars, GTWT has achieved a 100% graduation and college enrollment rate for its participants over the last several years. L.A. Located in Eagle Rock, Collaborative Eagle Rock Beautiful (CERB) is a non-profit, all volunteer organization dedicated to beautifying Eagle Rock and preserving open space. CERB engages neighbors, groups, and businesses to work together to add value to the community by planting and preserving the environment. CERB is committed to its continued efforts to “green” the medians and parkways in the community of Eagle Rock. CERB’s greatest focus has been on maintaining the Eagle Rock Canyon Trail, which was purchased by CERB in 2007 to avoid the land next to the iconic Eagle Rock from being developed. A stunning, looping, one-mile trail was completed by CERB volunteers, allowing hikers to access to the top of the property and its stunning views of the Eagle Rock community, Downtown Los Angeles, the Hollywood Hills, and as far as Catalina Island and the Palos Verdes Peninsula on a clear day.  L.A. Located in the Silverlake neighborhood of Los Angeles, the Silverlake Conservatory of Music (SCM) is a non-profit organization which facilitates dynamic music education, teaching both beginning and accomplished musicians of all skill levels. SCM’s primary focus is on the youth of the community, and the Conservatory offers private music lessons on all orchestral and band instruments, as well as an array of ensemble classes. Through a variety of sources, the Conservatory has maintained a strong roster of talented and committed future musicians and provides scholarships to children whose families would otherwise be unable to afford lessons.  The Conservatory strives to address the decrease in arts education in schools while providing cultural enrichment to its community at large. The performances and recitals put on by the Conservatory act as a meaningful and entertaining outreach to the community.  SCM strives to keep its standard of teaching at the highest level while maintaining a friendly, fun and nurturing environment. Since 2013, when formed by a group of park enthusiasts and local residents, Friends of Runyon Canyon (FRC) has engaged donors, friends and dog-lovers to make Runyon Canyon a better place for its over two million visitors per year. FRC works in close partnership with the City of Los Angeles and local community organizations to protect, preserve and beautify our spectacular Runyon Canyon park through organization of park clean-ups, raising awareness and fundraising.  Friends of Runyon Canyon has successfully raised funds to renovate trails, and to install water fountains, bike racks, park benches, trash containers, dog waste stations and signage, and continues to raise money for preservation of open space in Runyon Canyon for use by the community.  Friends of Runyon Canyon works to repair trails, plant trees and address erosion control and storm water run-off to make sure that Runyon Canyon is preserved and appreciated for generations to come.  L.A.
